Community Update – Support for Ukrainian Refugees, Locally grown veg boxes, Queens Award for Voluntary Service, Curlew Country and more

Queens Award for Voluntary Service – a series of workshops are being held around the County to assist voluntary groups in to understanding the nomination process for the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. Full details are attached.

Curlew Walk – Join Curlew Country on the to raise money for Britain’s largest wader!
A 13 mile walk around the Shropshire Hills will allow you to learn more about these fantastic birds while helping to secure their future. A minimum donation of £15 will secure your place, When you sign up, you will be sent a detailed walk map as well as route and event details and other things you might need to know on the day. When you complete the walk you will be able to record and receive acknowledgement of your achievement. The Route will start and end at the Stiperstones, taking in some beautiful Shropshire scenery and Curlew hotspots along the way. There will also be a family and child friendly alternative route around the Stiperstones, enjoy the scenery on a shorter route and you can even try to complete our Curlew Trail for a special prize! The Family Trail is just over 4 miles, and tickets for 2 adults and up to 4 children will be £20, maybe you will even meet our giant Curlew along the way…
The ticket money and your donations will go towards continuing with Curlew Country’s vital Curlew recovery work.

There is also a Public meeting organised by the Herford Diocese on Saturday 23 April at St John the Baptist Church in Bishop’s Castle. This meeting is to begin a discussion about preparing a local co-ordinated response to the needs of refugees and support for those who have offered or plan to act as hosts. All welcome.
