RURAL CRIME

The lockdown has unfortunately seen a rise in rural crime across the County. The rise was driven by thefts of high-value tractors, quad bikes and other farm vehicles. Livestock theft and theft from isolated properties has also increased.

Richard Huffer, Lib Dem Councillor and Farmer said ” I really would urge residents to take measures
to prevent their property being stolen, especially if you live in an isolated property. As well as taking conventional measures such as locks on doors and windows, residents should consider using smart water on smaller items of value and fitting trackers on larger ones like quad bikes.

“What is new is that we are getting several reports of thefts of dogs especially pedigree dogs so make sure your pets are securely housed too”
