Heathers Village Report for November/December

B4499, Leigh Road to travel to Minsterley. This road will continue to be closed from 9.30am to 4pm most days untill 14th December
Severn Trent. Severn Trent have added to their very poor record by closing the road above the Miners Arms with virtually no warning. Again they have known about this leak for some time. It took a week to mend and clear the road to the consternation of local people and hitting trade at the Pub. This work was in Wales and so was difficult to deal with. Shropshire was not notified and Powys refused to reply to enquiries.
Community College Bus. The Community College School bus running from Marton to Bishops Castle continues to have problems with the road from Woodmore to Rorrington. The pothole at the turn are appalling and the road is subsiding on both sides further along near Rorrington. Radio Shropshire interviewed me on this and ran clips on it all day last Tuesday. Highways says they might do the potholes soon……
Community Support Officers. Shropshire’s Community Support Officers play a key role in rural communities like ours. They organises Local Joint Committees, help with information for local community groups, grant funding, parish plans, Local Plan review and so much more
The Administration on Shropshire wanted to axe these jobs. However, Lib Dem motion to keep these officers was passed unanimously at the last full Council. Now they want to effectively employ the same officers in posts with new tiles. I may be cynical, but I doubt if they will being doing the same, community orientated , job as at present.
