Potholes – getting beyond a joke.

Dear All
The lack of progress at filling many of our potholes is frustrating to say the very least and dangerous in some cases. I have reported, re-reported and reported again many potholes. Yesterday I was so cross that the dangerous potholes(or the broken ironwork) were not being dealt with I contacted the Area Director. As a result, we are setting up an emergency meeting to address this next week .
My Colleagues in Bishops Castle and Clun are having similar problems getting work done.
The message I received yesterday was that the backlog of potholes were slowly being dealt with but the work left over from the Ringway contract was huge.
My concern and that of my fellow Councillors Jonny Keeley and Nigel Hartin, is that the dangerous ones should be dealt with as an absolute priority. People are swinging out in the road to avoid them now and it is very, very dangerous.
We are all aware that this is not sitting well with council tax payers, especially given te recent huge pay rises for senior management on the Council (Which the Lib Dems which we did not support). People are feeling that this is now beyond a joke.
If you have damage to your car take a picture of the pothole, the damage and keep the bill. Ring customer services on 03456 789000 and ask for a claim form. You can do this on line. Don’t be fobbed off by the Council telling you they are not paying out. Go for it.
Nigel, Jonny and I know how long many of these potholes have been there. We can support your claim. If the pothole has several coloured paint around it , it has been there a long time. Make sure the picture you take shows the paint.
We will keep in touch about the outcome of the meeting.
