Community grants.
If you are a member of a local club or community group, please remember that Chirbury and Rhiston Parish Council have a small grants pot that may be able to help you with your activities. Grants of up to £250 have been awarded. To apply contact the Parish Clerk on Tim.ward@btconnect.com or myself on the email/phone number below.

Injustice over pensions.
I am sponsoring a motion to the next meeting of Shropshire Council on behalf of the large number of women who have lost out in the radical changes to the pension system over the last decade or so. Working with the local campaign group - WASPI, we are calling on the Council to write to the Government to compensate many of the women who were wrong footed by the increase in the pension age for women. Many born after 6th April 1951 and who were expecting to receive a pension at 60. When it was increased under the Last Government they only received a few years notice - too little time to start a decent private pension.

We are asking the Council to call upon the Government to reconsider transitional arrangements for these women so that they do not live in hardship especially as many of these fulfil key roles in our community caring for the very young and the elderly.

Roads

At long last the drain covers have been raised on the resurfaced road outside Marton. That only took me a year of nagging! As we go to print we are still waiting for the white lining to be completed

Best wishes
