Victory in Hedgrow Battle

January 17, 2013 11:55 AM
Reacting to the news that the landowner has withdrawn his application to withdraw 7 miles of hedgerow in the Chirbury area, Cllr Heather Kidd said "This is fantastic news. All the hard work by the local community and from concerned people from as far away as Cambridge and Plymouth Universities finally paid off. We now need to keep a sharp look out in case any further application of any magnitude is made
"It was appalling that environmental destruction on this scale could considered in this day and age. What is the point of paying some landowners to plant new hedgerows whilst others try to rip 7 miles of them up?. A review of the law on this issue is long overdue."
