    Dear All

I am told that the Roadmaster road repair vehichle will be in the Priest Weston area in the week on 16th - tomorrow . please let me know if this is the case.

I am unsure as to whether it will be able to deal with this huge sunken hole in Chirbury Lane. No-one has confirmed or denied it - as yet.

Shropshire Councillors in the west of the County have strongly criticised Shropshire Council for the way it deals with claims from local residents who have had their cars damaged by potholes.

Jonny Keeley, Councillor for Bishops Castle Division, said "As if the number and severity of potholes in our part of the world isn't bad enough the treatment received by residents who claim for damage inflicted on their vehicles is truly dire. Irrespective of how much evidence they have to prove their case the treatment they receive from the solicitors acting on behalf of the Council's insurers is dismissive if not downright rude. This is even worse when you look at the variable standard of the repairs - some brilliant, others left untouched and some destined just to need repair again within a week or so. "

Severn trent will now be doing the repairs at night this Thursday - 14th June. 7pm - 6am. If at all possible it will open early.

This is for repair to a pipe running underground close to the bridge. The burst is undermining the bridge and we don't want that damaged!!!!

Think of the diversions and it length of time that would take to fix!

Heather Kidd, has urged Shropshire Council to radically overhaul the way it deals with flooding and drainage before more damage is done to property in the County.

Heather said: "A number of Councillors and local campaigners have been pressing the Council to take urgent action on the state of gully emptying and pipe jetting in the West of the County for months if not years. Too little investment in clearing drains, gullies and ditches leaves many areas very vulnerable to flash flooding after the torrential thunder storms we have experienced over the last few weeks.

    Dear All

The 'Sure Start/ Childrens Centre in Bishops Castle is under threat of closure. This is often used by mums with post-natal depression, young children with disabilities and so on. If this goes ahead the only access for families in our area will be in residential Shrewsbury or Ludlow. Please take part in the consultation if you can. The major issues are the lack of public transport to the other centres and the distance involved for travel. Geography is against us all again!

    Dear All

The lack of progress at filling many of our potholes is frustrating to say the very least and dangerous in some cases. I have reported, re-reported and reported again many potholes. Yesterday I was so cross that the dangerous potholes(or the broken ironwork) were not being dealt with I contacted the Area Director. As a result, we are setting up an emergency meeting to address this next week .

Worthen with Shelve Annual Parish Council April 2018

    Shropshire Council report

"017 -18 has been an eventful year. This time last we were in the midst of elections.

The next few years seem to be proving they will be the same with a number of challenges facing Shropshire Council as the Government continues to reduce its funding. That will be removed totally by 2020.

Saturday was the start of action taken by residents of Brockton and Worthen to improve road safety in their villages. This followed a well attended public meeting which had decided to take a number of measures to improve safety.

Despite the weather around several residents and Parish Councillors (and Heather ) turned out the dig soil and grass from the pavements so that their full width can be used by mums pushing buggies, holding toddlers hands and people walking dogs.
