    This last year has been quite challenging for us all both locally and nationally. It looks like to year to come will be even more so.

  • Heather Kidd Leads The Way With Affordable Housing Initiative

    Heather Kidd, Shropshire Councillor for Worthen and Chirbury and long time affordable housing champion, has challenged Shropshire Council to rapidly 'get on with the job' following their announcement last Friday that they are forming a house building company.

    Heather said "This looks a very good move. A house building company wholly owned by the Council could deliver where developers are not interested.

    The £7.3 million the Council has received for potholes means that the Leigh Road will have further works done to it and more resurfacing I believe. Highways will now be spending a further £150,000 to really bring the road up to good order.

    The bad news is that it will take a few more days of closure. BUT we should then have a top rate road! No more potholes!!!

    Local Councillors and residents in the Clun area have expressed outrage at the move by the South Shropshire Housing Association (Now part of CONNEXUS) is shortly going to sell 4 homes at Amblecote near Anchor at auction in London to maximise profit on the sale.

    B4499, Leigh Road to travel to Minsterley. This road will continue to be closed from 9.30am to 4pm most days untill 14th December

    Severn Trent. Severn Trent have added to their very poor record by closing the road above the Miners Arms with virtually no warning. Again they have known about this leak for some time. It took a week to mend and clear the road to the consternation of local people and hitting trade at the Pub. This work was in Wales and so was difficult to deal with. Shropshire was not notified and Powys refused to reply to enquiries.
