Craven Arms Recycling

At the full Shropshire Council meeting held on Thursday 29th February, £62 million of savings proposals were agreed.

One of the proposals is the reduction from 5 HWRC to 3 HWRC across Shropshire. This means that the site at Craven Arms is at risk of closure. In addition, there is also a proposal in the same list of savings to charge for the collection of green garden waste collection bins. No further details are available on either of these proposals at the moment.

Should the Craven Arms site be selected for closure we may see an increase in fly tipping in our local community. This was certainly the case when the skips and recycling bins were removed from Bishop’s Castle. .
For anyone wishing to use a HWRC this would mean a trip to Shrewsbury or Bridgnorth as our next nearest alternative sites.

A petition has been set up to save the Craven Arms site. The details are below if you wish to add your signature.
