There is a real concern that the review of Stroke services and A&E will mean it all relocating to Telford. There are already strong indications that the Acute Stroke unit which went ‘temporarily’ to Telford will stay there.
There is – in my mind- no problem with these things being on one site, with a funding problem and a lack of consultants- that may be the only option. BUT for many of us and with Ambulance response times being poor, that site has to be Shrewsbury. I will be running a petition which is already on my website and will also be arranging other events to make sure we have our say before we get to the point of the Hospital Trust going out to consultation on a pre-decided site – as we saw with the move of Maternity and Women’s Services.
I was present last night at a public meeting in Newtown where people are really desperately concerned because of the distances involved for Mid Wales people. Their Ambulance response time are poor too.
Would people like me to do something similar? I will discuss this at the Patients Group Coffee morning at the Callow Café today- 11 am – 1.30pm. I will be there about 12 noon. It may also be something that the LJC takes on as it affects the whole of its area.
