Marton issues.

The roads in and around Marton and dog fouling have been the major issues this month. I have placed a petition in the shop to help make sure that the road does not drop off the resurfacing list again next year. The road is getting steadily worse and is making quite a noise when people drive over it. If you have not signed it yet there’s still a chance. I will then be handing it into the Area Director.

After several accidents on the road between Marton and Stockton I have had the Highways officer out to look at how we might make it safer. He is suggesting putting the white line back where the road narrows, putting in extra signage and an advisory speed limit. I am yet to hear a timescale for this.

Dog fouling becomes an issue in most villages from time to time. I have arranged for dog fouling signs to be put up in the Sun Inn area and the lane to Groton Farm Road. Getting dog mess on a buggy, lawn mower or shoes is unpleasant to say the least and is a health hazard.

Speeding. I asked Mathew Mead if the road Safety Partnership could provide 30 mph wheelie bin stickers. They have! I will be knocking on doors with them over the next couple of weeks. They will have an impact when the bins are out and will not be there all the time and that should mean that drivers do not get used to them.
