Flooding, potholes and landslips.

The flooding has been probably worse than we have had for many years.
Brookside in Worthen has been full of water and i have requested a rapid road clean. Much of the work promised by Shropshire Council has not been completed and both the Parish Council and I have asked for action on that

The B4386 was closed from Marton to Westbury and also around Yockleton. These roads will also need sweeping. i was in regular contact with Highways throughout Friday.

The A490 was seriously flooded after the Shiregrove Bridge and later in Churchstoke by the pumping station. Welshpool was cut off to us.

The A488 was exceptionally bad through the Hope Valley with fast flowing deep water pouring down the banks and out of fields and then down the road- filling undrained dips. The road was closed in Pontesbury.

A bridle path in the Hope valley has also been seriously damaged and a pipe exposed.

There were electricity lines and trees down.

I travelled around the area to witness as much as possible but safely. Many villages were cut off.

The landslip on the road up to Hampton Beech happened on Saturday and I requested road closure signs for both sides – including those in Powys.

Gullies simply could not take the water, but many were already blocked.

Some serious potholes have opened up now. Take care especially on the road to Montgomery. That one looks like a puddle.

Please report blocked gullies, potholes and mud on the road to me and to ‘My Shropshire’. If anyone had water come into their homes, please let me know.

Many thanks
