Dear All
Thank you for all of you who attended the meeting about the Cock Inn. It was a real show of community support with around 40 attendees and around another 15 apologies.
What the meeting decided:
* The Community wanted to keep the pub open
* The Parish Council would register it as a building of Community interest – this has been done
* Shropshire Council will look at this as soon as possible – it is their decision but could well be supportive
* One person came forward who would joint fund buying the pub if necessary – Heather to organise a possible partner if necessary.
* Contact the Estate Agent selling the pub
This has taken a while as either the estate agent dealing with this was out of office or I missed his calls. We finally caught up today. The pub is under offer as some of us knew. The buyer owns a number of other pubs and so this looks as though the Cock inn will continue to serve the community. I have asked that my details are passed on to the purchaser so that they can get in touch with any further details. This of course will be up to them.
People who have met the buyer say he is a nice guy
. Fingers crossed. I will keep you all updated with any further developments.
