Shropshire Council has come forward with a revised repair plan that meets many local residents’ concerns after speaking with residents last week. Two meetings were held between Councillors, residents and Councill officers in the Clun and Newcastle on Clun to discuss the way forward with the repair of a landslip which has seriously impacted travel between the two communities for two years.
Nigel Hartin, Shropshire Councillor for Clun, who organised the meetings said:
“We had two meetings, one for each parish council with members of the public attending with many more coming in online including Bettws Parish Councillors. The Shropshire Council Engineer in charge, Gurnek Singh joined via ZOOM.
“Many were concerned that the original Council plans, which involved a total closure of the road, would make travel between the two communities very difficult. Residents raised many issues about the state of the diversion routes, their use by HGVs and potholes”
The revised plan will include:
Nigel concluded: “This revised plan is much better and meets many of our requests and gets many of the road defects in the surrounding area fixed. It also allows continued access for emergency services and the use of the road out of hours. I’d like to thank Gurnek Singh for all his work on this revised plan.”
