Shropshire Councillors Nigel Hartin and Heather Kidd have lashed out at the Council’s decision to press ahead with its controversial LDP development plan despite widespread opposition across the County.
This was a case of mindlessly pressing ahead with a flawed plan come what may.
All opposition Councillors voted against the Local Development Plan at Thursday’s (15th July) meeting as did 2 Conservatives. Despite other Conservative Councillors abstaining the plan was pushed through.
A Lib Dem motion to defer a decision till September to allow further consultation and reflection was turned down.
AFFORDABLE HOMES
We have a real problem delivering affordable homes here for our young people, all this plan does is deliver a mass of large overpriced homes that few want or can afford.
In Worthen residents have been calling out for more affordables for years but this plan would see even more 4 and 5 bedroomed houses foisted on the community. In our area houses now 11 times the local average wage and more houses are desperately needed affordable to buy, rent and smaller open market housing.
The Local Development Plan has now been passed to the Planning Inspector for a Public Examination. Nigel and Heather are urging Parish Councils to take part in this examination to make the voices of our communities heard.
