Massive Drop in Housing Waiting List – Families Registered drop from 7,000 to 2,000

Local Lib Dem Councillors have urged local residents who are in need of housing to reregister on the housing waiting list following a review by Shropshire Council which has seen a drop a 5,000 of those registered.
The Council effectively deleted everyone from the housing waiting list and asked them to re-apply. The result is that these re-applications have been trickling in at a time when new developments of affordable homes are being built in for the first time in years. In Bishops Castle we have a new estate being built at Castle Green which should be ready in the next few months. At the same time I know of a number of families in the town who are in dire need of accommodation, some of which have not re-applied.
