Last of £178,968 in Grant aid Given Out

The Local Joint Committee for the Bishops Castle, Clun and Chirbury Area has given out the last of its Community grants at a meeting last week in Bishops Castle.

Local Joint Committees were set up at the same time as the Shropshire Unitary Council in 2009 to bring together Parish and Shropshire Councillors to discuss issues of importance to their part of Shropshire. each was also given an annual ‘pot’ of money to give out as grants to community groups. This year as part of Shropshire’s budget cuts these funds have been removed.

£2million in Match Funding

with these projects generating matched funding of £1,955,946.65 from other grants and local fundraising.

The flexibility of the system has meant that we could fund quite small items like a new village notice board for Brockton (old board in photo)
right up to £11,000 to upgrade the changing facilities in Bucknell.
