Marton Area Report for February

. After a lot of discussion, I have had an assurance from Mr Lydes of the Post Office that the outreach service will continue in Marton Shop (plus Worthen and Snailbeach) after the change of postmaster in Pontesbury Post Office which runs this service. There will be a consultation in March about changing the Pontesbury Post Office premises. Whilst this is good news I will keep a close eye on how the situation develops to make sure we keep our service.

. The tender for the ‘Monty Bus’ has come up again. I have put in an expression of support for this service providing as it does the only bus service through our village. For many it is the only way to get to work, school or town.

. The Parish Council are going to be holding a public meeting shortly to update the Parish Plan. This identifies what we need in terms of services, housing etc. The last plan helped deliver the new Village Hall. The Parish Council and myself will publicise the event once we have a date. Please come along and have your say.

very compelling reasons to do so. This makes a mockery of the parish Plans and other expressions of local opinion and has been described as a ‘developer’s charter’. I have written to both Ministers to express my concern about the impact such changes could have on our communities.

the amount of land needed by the County to deliver the housing we need for the next 5 years.

Best wishes
