A meeting of residents in the village of Worthen has called on South Shropshire Housing Association to build affordable homes in the village in place of the open market houses they have recently proposed building.
The meeting at the Community Centre in Rectory Gardens, Worthen on Thursday (16th) heard that the Association planned to demolish the bedsits, single and two bedroom pensioner bungalows in Old Mill Close and replace them with 6 houses which would be sold on the open market. Some of the proceeds from the sale could then go to build affordable homes elsewhere in the village but that would depend on finding suitable land.

The police have undertaken two enforcement sessions outside Worthen school since Christmas booking a total of 13 speeding motorists. Heather said ” I am encouraging them to make this a regular event so that it gets through to the most irresponsible driver that they cant speed through Brockton and Worthen!”
