Marton News January 2014

Speeding

The police carried out a blitz in the new year in Worthen and Brockton booking 7 speeding motorists and cautioning another 10. I have been told that they cannot extend their activities to Marton till the road markings are replaced.

I am currently pressing the Council to get the contractor who did the road to finish the job i.e. fix the section coming away by the Church. Once the road marking are back I will speak again with the police about having some enforcement in Marton.

Drains and Culverts.

These have not been cleared properly in many parts of our area. Blocked drains can lead to run off across road which can be dangerous – doubly so if it starts to freeze. If you have a blocked drain or culvert near where you live please give me a call. Likewise if you see an empty grit box let me know as were are sure to have some cold weather sometime in January and February.

Road Works

Lastly just a reminder that Severn Trent will be starting work in the middle of Chirbury as we go to press. There will be traffic lights and some delays can be expected. Work will also start in the Priest Weston area next month and these will feature road closures and diversions.
