LOCAL MOVE TO SAVE LINK BUS SERVICE

Following rumoured threats to the rural ‘LINK’ bus service, the Board of Enterprise South West* bases in Bishops Castle are to investigate the possibility of running the service locally.

As well as the move by Enterprise South West, local Shropshire Councillors are also going to call a special meeting of local community council chairs to see if they and/or the Local Joint Committee can help fund any future service.

When many of the scheduled bus services were scrapped 5 years ago it disrupted many social networks. The bus that ran through Priest Weston use to have 20 regular passengers. Scrapping this service would be even worse – I know many elderly people living in the countryside who would be very isolated.
