Care Home Failures Shocking Revelations

Heather Kidd today said that there is simply no excuse for care home failures.
“It is shocking that so many care homes and services nationally are rated as providing poor care,” said Heather.
Commenting on the report from the Care Quality Commission on social care services which reveals that 400 care homes are rated as poor, Heather Kidd said “The fact that so many care homes and services nationally are rated as providing poor care is simply not acceptable. Here in Shropshire only those who are rated as good are supported. Those who own and run these homes and other services should be told that unless urgent improvements are made, then they will face closure. We cannot tolerate elderly and vulnerable people living in these conditions.”
“It is scandalous that standards of dignity and respect for residents in care homes has fallen in the past year. There can be no excuse for such disgraceful shortcomings. The social care system is failing too many people. The Government has presided over an emerging crisis while failing to deliver reform and its latest proposals do nothing to address these problems. We need to establish a cross-party commission and commit to implementing its reforms.”
