Shropshire Council will meet with South Shropshire Housing Association and the Environment Agency, along with Cllr Heather Kidd and members of the local action group on 9th October to discuss the recurring flooding issue in Worthen.
Cllr Heather Kidd said “One urgent piece of action that needs doing is the clearing of the vegetation that is clogging the stream at present. Although the Housing Association have done some work by strimming their part of the bank, the Environment Agency has to fulfil its obligations and remove the bulk of the obstruction. Floodgates should be provided for those most at risk too.
Heather said: “However these are just temporary measures. We need everyone concerned – Council, Housing Association and Environment Agency to get their heads together to get a permanent solution to this problem.”
