VILLAGE NEWS OCTOBER 2014
GENERAL
MOBILE SIGNAL: EE finally sent two senior officers to talk to our Local Joint Committee recently. They told us that they are having a major investigation into the quality of the signal in our area and have asked me to pass on all the complaints I’ve amassed over the last few months. Hopefully we should see some improvement now.
If you are still having problems then don’t hesitate to get in touch. I now have the contact details for John Carwardine (their UK community service manager – who came to the meeting) so lets make use of it!
FURE OF OUR NHS. The NHS is Shropshire is running a big consultation called ‘Future Fit’ about how the NHS will develop over the next few years It will be discussing the future of A&E in Shrewsbury and I strongly suspect that they will be trying to use this process as a justification to close it or reduce its capabilities. This will hit our area particularly hard, especially as ambulance response times are so poor here. They will be publishing their options for the future soon and we need to ensure that running down our A&E isn’t one of them!
CHIRBURY

ROADS. The middle of Chirbury Village will now be resurfaced towards in November. I have been asked to look at the layout of the white lines on the road to see if it can be made safer for people coming in an out of lower lane.
DOG FOULING. Someone has been allowing their do to foul the path that runs to the school and to Busy Bees. The Council’s Dog Fouling Officer has put signs up and is asking for any witnesses to contact them.
WORTHEN AND BROCKTON
SPEEDING – Police have told me that they are going to crack down even harder on speeding motorists through Worthen and Brockton. They are bringing in a camera van and there will be fewer ‘speed warnings’ given out . Last week they booked 6 motorists for speeding, 2 for not wearing a seatbelt and 1 for not having an MOT.
WORTHEN SURGERY. The new Doctors surgery in Worthen continues to be a worry as it should have been nearly completed by now. There appears to be a problem with the contract between the Practice and the NHS. I have been speaking to many of the parties involved and am hoping to hold a meeting shortly we can all express our concerns on this situation to the powers that be.
SNAILBEACH AND STIPERSTONES
PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT NEAR THE METHODIST CHURCH. The appeal for two houses to be built next to the Methodist Chapel is Snailbeach has been dismissed I am delighted to say. The Inspector was particularly concerned about them not fitting in with the village in character or their position.

ROAD THROUGH SNAILBEACH This is now particularly bad and although the Council has allocated all its funding for this financial year I am now pressing for it to be in next years budget.
MARTON
ROAD NEAR MARTON CHURCH.I have complained to the Council about the contractor’s (Ringway) second appalling attempt to resurface the main road near Marton Church. The contractor is now going to resurface the area plus some patches elsewhere in the village at their own expense in the spring when frost wont losen the surface.
