Government diktat hamstrings council work

Heather Kidd is to write to Eric Pickles MP, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government after a diktat from Government hamstrung an important part of the work of active Councillors.

“The reason given is security. Whatever the reason it shouldn’t inhibit Councillors from communicating to local residents information that is in the public domain. The Department has clearly failed to appreciate is they have almost totally hamstrung the benefits brought to modern society by technology such as the e-mail and the tablet!

“I strongly suspect that this has been dreamed up by a Whitehall bureaucrat with no understanding of the job of a Councillor, especially in a rural area
