1675 Schoolhouse Brought Back into Use

The original school building in Chirbury built in 1675 will now be brought back into use .
This building was purpose built as a school complete with school masters accommodation and is a Grade 2 listed building. For most of the past 50 years though it has mainly been a private residence*. However having reached an agreement with the Trustees of the building Tim Roberts, the Head, and a team of volunteers have been working hard to get the building ready for structural work to start this holidays.

Tim Roberts the Headmaster of Chirbury School will be retiring after 28 years in the post this month. The Old school building and the headmasters house has been a real interest since he came to Chirbury. He will be helping with the restoration of the building.
In his tenure in office, Tim has consistently delivered a high quality of teaching, OFTED have always rated the school as ‘good’ or above. Sue Cooke, site head at Stiperstones School will take over as the new head of the Chirbury and Stiperstones Schools Federation.
I am delighted that we have been able to appoint a local architect ( Philip Humphreys) and a local builder ( Peter Hockley) to help us carry out the work. Both have had children who attended the school over last few years.
