Grit Thefts

Heather Kidd, Lib Dem Councillor for Chirbury and Worthen, has called on residents to be on the look out for the misuse of grit bins following a spate of reports from across her ward.
“I know that very cold weather makes life very difficult for many living in rural areas. However, a very small minority have been misusing public grit for their own ends. I’ve had reports from a number of areas across my ward of people taking grit for their own private drives etc, Earlier this year we even had instances of whole grit boxes being stolen.”
“To clarify matters, its fine for people to use grit from roadside boxes for public roads but not for their own private drives. Unfortunately we have had a number of instances of this happening from the Hope and Stiperstones area including an accusation of a whole farm drive being done. In weather like this, this is selfish to say the least.”
Heather is asking residents to be on the lookout for behaviour like this and let her or their ward councillor know if any occur. Likewise call if their bins run out through normal usage.
