Heather Kidd Says No To Cuts In Apprentices

Badly needed apprentice schemes are in jeopardy after secret Labour plans were revealed that show the government is planning swingeing cuts to the plan to train a new generation of apprentices.
Whilst Labour have been saying that they plan to raise investment in training and apprenticeships they are actually getting ready for cuts of £350 million for 2010-11 that would reduce the number of places available for training by hundreds of thousands.
Heather Kidd said “Gordon Brown is simply trying to hoodwink people into thinking that they are increasing investment in young people when the complete opposite is actually the case. The reductions would mainly affect those aged 19 and over who want to join courses at colleges, independent training companies, or become apprentices.”
She continued “Alistair Darling promised that the cuts declared in last April’s budget would not compromise front line services but these plans show that young people are going to be affected drastically. What else is there hidden away? Cuts to schools and hospital services?”
