Heather Kidd Supports Calls By Ludlow Councillors On Cemetery Gates

Heather Kidd has supported calls by two Ludlow Councillors who have asked for the new opening arrangements for Ludlow Cemetery to be scraped after receiving over 30 phone calls from residents on the issue.
Ludlow Town Councillor Vivienne Parry said: “I’ve had a fair number of phone calls from the public expressing concerns about the new hours of opening for the cemetery. Under the new arrangements, the public will not be allowed to park by the main gates or on the car park because these gates will be locked. They will have to park on Henley Road and use the small entrance.”
Ludlow East Shropshire Councillor, Tracey Huffer added “This new arrangement has obviously upset a number of people. As I understand it, the gates will shut at 3.30pm on weekdays and remain shut at weekends. It will be especially hard in the summertime when people like to visit the graves of their loved ones in the evening and at weekends, especially as some people not just tending one grave but a number. While some may think that this is not important, we feel it is only a small thing to ask that easy access is allowed for what is often a very emotional thing.”
Heather Kid said ” I am please that Vivienne and Tracey will be making representations to the Town Council and are urging all those concerned about these changes to do likewise.”
